Missions Ministry

Cornerstone Community Church recognizes that every Christian is commanded by Christ to participate in mission to the world. A mission is every Christ-followers calling. We recognize that we are the body of Christ and that every one of us has some role or function in that body. To keep our body healthy and fruitful we must exercise obedience to Christ in whatever that role may be.

Statement of Policy

Missions shall be defined as any endeavor outside the walls of CCC that makes Christ known through our social action, community outreach, evangelism, or long-term missions.

We recognize the importance of carrying out any of these in accordance with Christ's Great Commission:

  • People Served: God’s intended church at home and worldwide. In every mission or outreach, our first goal is to do genuine mission work according to biblical standards that touch lives of people served. We specifically seek to address the needs of unsaved people who will have an opportunity to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, as well as; the poor, the hurting, and the destitute people who will have some of their personal and social needs met.
  • Social Action: Ministering to human need with the heart of Christ.
  • Evangelism: Making Christ known to people through a viable Bible based and witnessing church.
  • Long-Term Missions: Making Christ known to people groups who are unreached or have little access to the Good News.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Matthew 28:19-20.

Vision

Love God and love others.

  • Awaken: Reno

Awaken conducts outreach and provides direct services to women and girls to help them transition out of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE). Nearly all victims served by Awaken have had a history of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. Drop-In Center: Opened in January 2016 with the support from caring community partners, located in a hot spot for trafficking, prostitution and CSE in Reno. Prevention: Education efforts targeting the most vulnerable population – disadvantaged youth through presentations at school assemblies, classroom-based curriculum, and talks with youth groups about the realities of human trafficking and how to prevent it from happening to them or their loved ones. City Transformation: In order to effectively advocate for social change, our community must be involved. Through our lobbying and outreach efforts, Awaken is reaching a diverse cross-section of Nevadans from grassroots supporters to policymakers. We aim to educate and empower individuals with the information and resources they need to combat sex trafficking and CSE. awakenreno.orgDonate to Awaken

  • Kids Alive: Peru - Dan & Katie ANderson & Family

Manchay Oasis School and Care Center: Center started to help the many desperately poor mothers who felt forced to abandon their children at the Lima Children’s Home. Orchard Children’s Home: Newly opened, it consists of family-style homes for 40 children led by loving house parents. Mission TEC Care Center: Started 36 years ago, the early ministry provided technical training and Christian discipleship to young adults to help them break the cycle of poverty while introducing them to Jesus. In 2005 the Care Center began a girls’ club program that now serves over 200 kids, ages 7-17. House of Glory: A shelter for teenage girls and their babies who have been victims of domestic violence resulting in pregnancy. kidsaliveperu.org • Anderson Family Blog • Request to Join Facebook Group

  • Young Life: Tahoe/Truckee

At Young Life, we are committed to introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. We also aim to establish and maintain a presence at all high schools and middle schools in the Tahoe/Truckee area. We believe kids deserve to know what life can hold for them. Young Life leaders are caring adults who come sharing that hope as well as fun and lasting friendships with kids. Young Life is also all about fun. From club and camp to Campaigners and other activities, teenagers will have a blast laughing, trying new things and being with their friends. Even though Young Life is especially for kids, parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by becoming a volunteer leader or committee member, attending a Young Life fund-raising event, hosting Young Life, or simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.
