Because of God’s love and grace we have been delivered from death and condemnation that came from being “in Adam.” Romans 6 describes the incredible life that God’s grace has secured for us through Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

In chapter 5 of Romans, Paul has presented to us the glorious truth that we have peace with God and a great hope for the future and this is all based on our Father’s love for us. Paul brings this chapter to a close by laying the foundation for the rest of the book, and that is the grace of God: God’s gracious gift that has brought life to us through the work of His Son Jesus Christ.

Paul, having taken 4 chapters to present to us the profound truth that we are declared righteous by putting our faith in Jesus, presents to us the first amazing result of this declaration: we have peace with God! WOW! We are no longer alienated from Him; we are no longer seen by Him as sinners in rebellion; and the crescendo is that we are no longer His enemies. We have been reconciled with our Creator. Oh, the glorious ramifications of this truth.
