Our Purpose
Discover • Grow • Engage
Our purpose statement expresses in a succinct manner why we exist as a local church. It can be expressed with three words: Discover, Grow, and Engage. Let’s explore each of these individually to get a fuller sense of what drives our church (we encourage you to look up all the Scriptural passages listed below).
Cornerstone Community Church is committed to helping one other . . .
Discover who God is and what He has done for us
- Isaiah 40
- Eph. 1:17-20, 3:14-19
- Col. 1:15-23
The foundation of the Christian Faith is our great incomparable God. This amazing God has redeemed us through His Son Jesus Christ and has adopted us as His children by the power of His Spirit. Come discover this with us and so much more. Every aspect of our lives is affected in profound ways as we grow in our knowledge of Him.
Grow into Christlikeness
- Rom. 8:28-30
- Col. 1:27-29, 3:1-17
- Phil. 1:6
- Gal. 4:19
- 1 John 2:28-3:3
Growing to maturity is the inevitable result of knowing our great God. The Apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 4:19 that the journey of this life is to have “Christ formed in us.” Our attitudes, motives, and actions are constantly be molded by God to be like His Son Jesus. Romans 8:29 tells us that this is the reason we were saved and that everything that happens in our lives is “to conform us to the image of His Son.” We desire as a church to be God’s instruments in seeing this happen in each others lives.
Engage a broken world with the hope of the Gospel
- Matt.5:13-16, 28:18-20
- Rom. 13:8-10
- 1 Pet. 3:14-17
Once we know God and He is working in us to become like His Son, we have both the responsibility and the privilege of telling others about the hope there is in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s Spirit motivates and empowers us to share the “good news” with those close by and far away.
With the end result that God is glorified in all that we do.
- 1 Cor. 10:31
- Rom. 11:36
The end result of committing our lives to the purpose of Discovering, Growing, and Engaging is that God is glorified in all that we do. To Him be the Glory Forever. Amen
